Deborah writes about trying to make the best choices in extraordinary circumstances.
She says she was always destined to become a writer of Young Adult Fantasy. She grew up in the country with so much free time to listen to the quiet voices of the world around her. She could hear their secrets; their stories, and wants to dedicate her life to sharing them.
She has been a drummer, a songwriter and poet, a singer, a teen’s librarian, a teacher, and a mother.
Currently focused on teaching eight and nine year olds in a Waldorf School, she finds time to write around the edges while sharing her love of words and rhythm with her class.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature studying Russian and English Classics, a Certificate in Children’s Literature, a Graduate Diploma in Teaching, and a Certificate in Rudolf Steiner Education. Born in Tauranga; she returned there over 20 years ago and just can’t seem to leave.
She has a grown-up daughter who is almost three hours away; and lives with a social butterfly Pomeranian-Maltese dog, a cicada-hunting cat, and a polite but persistent guinea pig who is constantly reminding her it’s time to eat – again.
